Tell the Federal Government to ‘Do No Harm’

The Church’s ministries of healing, education and social services bear witness to Jesus Christ and build up the common good. Church institutions are not mere providers of social services. They are expressions of Christian ministry dedicated to human flourishing. We serve all people, without regard to race, sex, religion or any other status, because God has imbued every person with inherent human dignity. Most Americans understand that mission-driven organizations should be free to operate in accordance with their missions. But a recent rule proposed by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) would prevent Catholic hospitals, clinics, assisted living facilities and health care workers from carrying out their work. HHS needs to hear your opinion by October 3! Visit www.usccb.org/do-not-harm to learn more.

Drive Resurfacing

We are planning to resurface our Richmond entrance (R2) next month. This entrance to our campus will be closed from October 7-11 (weather permitting). Work will also be done on the small parking lot near our north field. Please plan to avoid these areas / use another entrance.

Host Families Needed for 3-Week Program This Fall

We are excited to announce that we will be welcoming a small group of German students for three weeks in the fall (Oct. 12-Nov. 2)! We invite you to be part of this adventure by serving as a host family! A stipend is available to help offset the cost of hosting. Please contact Leann Garrison ([email protected], 616-233-5938) with any questions or if you are interested in hosting a student.

Grand Rapids Christian College Fair

During registration, students will learn about colleges that would be a great fit for them. The personalized barcode will also help students stay connected to the colleges that they meet with at the college fair.

ArtPrize 2023

Register for BigTeams

West Catholic Athletics recently partnered with its scheduling platform, BigTeams, to help keep important documents organized that student-athletes need to sign or turn in to participate in WC Athletics. With this change, we are asking at least one parent/guardian to create an account and link their account with their student’s so they can electronically sign all documents, upload their physical forms and add their health insurance information in case of emergencies. This system will also allow communications between the athletic department, coaches and athletes.

All WC students have an account. They need to sign in using the instructions provided, add in the rest of their information and link their account to their parent’s or guardian’s account. Again, at least one parent/guardian needs to create an account as well. We ask that you complete this process as soon as possible.

Sports Passes

If you would like to purchase a family or parent athletic pass for all HOME events for the 2022-2023 school year or a VIP parking pass for football games, please use this link. As a reminder, all WC students and all partner school students received a free pass from an anonymous donor. WC students may pick up their passes in the athletic office. Family, parent and VIP parking passes are also available.

The WC equestrian team is headed to MIHA Regionals! To help with some of the expenses, the team is putting on a pop can drive. Please help support by bringing in your empty pop cans and dropping them off in the blue bin labeled “WC Equestrian Team Pop Can Drive.”

Hockey Fundraiser

The Grand Rapids Christian/West Catholic co-op hockey team’s annual scrap metal drive is back! Bring your scrap metal to Eagle Ice Center (2600 Village Dr. SE) on Friday, Oct. 7 (3-6 p.m.) or Saturday, Oct. 8 (8 a.m.-2 p.m.). Anything from appliances, car parts, car batteries, marine batteries, stainless steel, metal ladders, metal tools, golf clubs, grills, gutters, bicycles, coat hangers, fans… anything that has metal on it, in it or around it! TVs, computer and anything with fuel or chemicals still left in it will NOT be accepted. You may also drop off your scrap metal to any of the PADNOS locations using the account code GRA3360.
