Academic Support Teacher

West Catholic High School is seeking a full-time teacher for a position within its Academic Support Department. This support teacher will teach in the Academic Support Center (ASC) classroom. ASC provides an opportunity for students who qualify for support services due to diagnosed learning needs and/or a history of academic struggles to receive individualized assistance and instruction. In ASC, students receive unique accommodations and modifications as written in their IEP or Section 504. This teacher will provide direct assistance in all content areas across the West Catholic curriculum. This position involves regular collaboration with general education teachers across all subject areas to ensure special education students are receiving appropriate accommodations and modifications. Responsibilities include managing a caseload of students who qualify for support services due to an identified disability. This teacher must follow all duties and responsibilities as outlined by the mission of West Catholic High School.

  • Collaborates with general education teachers and academic support staff to ensure that instruction and support are aligned with students’ learning needs and eliminates any barriers their diagnosed disabilities may create

Staff Accountant II

JOB SUMMARY: The Staff Accountant II is responsible for recording bank deposits and processing accounts payable invoices for West Catholic High School, Catholic Central High School, Transportation, and their supporting Foundation. He/she is responsible for invoicing parishes and elementary schools for parish support, transportation and shared health insurance. The Staff Accountant II is also responsible for month-end general entries and reconciliations.

REPORTS TO: Controller

HOURS & FLSA STATUS: 32-40 hours per week; non-exempt

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

Billing & Deposits

  • Record cash and check deposits in QuickBooks
  • Post tuition and SCRIP payments to accounts receivable in QuickBooks and to student accounts in Finalsite
  • Scan checks into bank scanning software
  • Prepare and mail invoices for parish support, transportation, shared health insurance and other customer invoices
  • Record in the accounting software credit/debit card and ACH transactions from the following sources: Give Campus, IATS, Greater Giving, etc.
  • Reconcile Arbiter Pay Deposit account with the general ledger

Accounts Payable/Payroll

  • Assemble, review and verify vendor invoices, check requests and expense reimbursements
  • Flag and clarify any unusual or questionable invoice items or general ledger coding
  • Post invoices and check requests to accounts payable
  • Process Company Credit Card and Amazon invoices; verify supporting documentation and expense coding
  • Assist with AP/Payroll uploads and the general ledger

Other Month-End

  • Prepare monthly interest income/expense entries for Deposit and Loan Accounts
  • Book Depreciation and bad debt expense entries
  • Update and balance Pledges Receivable
  • Book bank and credit card fees
  • Balance intercompany accounts
  • Reconcile Raiser’s Edge gift records with QuickBooks
  • Assist with bank reconciliations

General Duties

  • Prepare 1099s and W-2G forms
  • Provide various QuickBooks reports to school staff and answer general accounting questions
  • Assist families in completing their financial aid applications
  • Other duties as assigned

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent experience required
  • QuickBooks experience preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel preferred
  • Quick and accurate keyboarding skills
  • Ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information and to handle multiple tasks with varying deadlines

Head Varsity Esports Coach

The Head Varsity Esports Coach is directly responsible for the planning, implementation and evaluation of the Esports program from the sub-varsity to varsity level in accordance with the school’s mission of forming disciples of Christ through a dynamic, excellence-driven Catholic education. The Head Esports Coach will strive to help each individual achieve a higher value of discipline, teamwork, good sportsmanship, academic achievement and self-esteem.

Qualifications/Knowledge

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the game is paramount; extensive knowledge of current coaching techniques and procedures

School Transportation Van Driver

The Diocese of Grand Rapids Office of Catholic Secondary Schools is looking for a School Transportation Van Driver (hourly/non-exempt). This position would work 20+ hours/week during the school year; mostly morning/afternoon school hours with some hours available for events during evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities:

  • Safely transport high school and elementary students to and from school following a set route and schedule
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of students during transportation
  • Conduct van pre-trip and post-trip inspection to ensure it is in good working condition
  • Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations
  • Maintain a clean and organized van interior

Qualifications:

  • Valid Michigan driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Obtain a State of Michigan Chauffeur’s License
  • Desire to support Grand Rapids Catholic Schools students through implementing shorter and more direct routes, enabling more sleep and more study time
