Assistant Athletic Director

West Catholic High School is looking for a full-time Assistant Athletic Director who is responsible for supervising, directing and coordinating the day-to-day operations of the athletic department.

The following are characteristics of an ideal candidate:

  • Has a passion for building relationships with the community through high school athletic functions and athletic fundraising
  • Proficient with social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook and Instagram
  • Knowledge of HUDL and BigTeams platforms
  • At least 2 years of graphic design experience with platforms such as BoxOut
  • The individual must be a self-starter/self-motivated, well organized and detail-oriented
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision, consistently meeting goals and deadlines
  • Leads by example that is reflective of the West Catholic mission and our Catholic identity and values

Responsibilities:

  • Assist Athletic Director with all sports, grades 7-12
  • Main point of contact for coaches to report scores, game recaps and items needed to be shared on social media
  • Responsible for updating rosters, player profiles and coach profiles utilizing BigTeams
  • Responsible for event management from organizing and hiring event workers and officials to crowd control both at on-site events and those in other buildings
  • Responsible for technology applications such as Ryzer, TeamSnap, Arbiter, MHSAA, Schedule Star and BigTeams; works with and trains coaches on their use
  • Oversees game scripts for all varsity events, including the itinerary for video board usage
  • Collaborates with all staff to support the needs of the school
  • Directs communication internally and externally regarding both internal and external events
  • Supports all teams and coaching staff in the promotion and communication of individuals, teams and events, including teaching and overseeing social media

Requirements:

  • Bachelors or higher in Sport Management or the equivalent
  • At least 2 years coaching experience
  • Experience with high school athletics as a participant
  • Must be flexible in working hours to accommodate evening, weekend and overnight activities as needed

Director of Buildings & Grounds

West Catholic High School is looking for a full-time Director of Buildings & Grounds who is responsible for all grounds and facility-related operations, including building maintenance, facility renovations, custodial services, groundskeeping, facility planning/construction and safety/security services.

The following are characteristics of an ideal candidate:

  • Working knowledge of safe work practices and safety precautions utilized in the building trades
  • Working knowledge of laws and building codes affecting repair and remodeling
  • Working knowledge of methods used in the maintenance of building equipment
  • Knowledge of estimating material and labor costs
  • Effective listening, communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to manage a team and build a strong rapport with colleagues, vendors and members of the community

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the safety and security of the school
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining budgets as well as short- and long-term facility plans
  • Responsible for all building systems, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, waste management and safety
  • Oversees all facilities usage, including facility rentals and directing appropriate setup and teardown of facility rental events
  • Provides for regular inspection and evaluation of facilities
  • Prepares long- and short-range plans for maintenance, repair and site improvement projects
  • Provides leadership on preventive maintenance
  • Orders and receives maintenance materials, grounds supplies and equipment, and maintains an appropriate inventory of such materials and equipment
  • Obtains and evaluates quotes for all buildings and grounds projects
  • Maintains accurate work records of facility maintenance, service agreements and projects
  • Oversees contractors involved in facility projects and services and maintains positive relationships with vendors

Requirements:

  • Formal training in the skilled trades or a bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
  • Five years of experience in buildings, grounds and/or maintenance
  • Three years of supervisory experience

1st-Shift Custodian

West Catholic High School is looking to fill a full-time custodial position for the 2022-2023 school year.

  • Responsible for providing a clean and healthy environment for staff and students
  • Duties include classroom and restroom cleaning, event setup and teardown, trash removal and other custodial duties as assigned
  • Previous custodial/janitorial experience preferred
  • Experience stripping and waxing hard floors and carpet extraction preferred
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and meet the physical requirements of the job duties

Staff Accountant - GRCSS

There is an opening for a full-time (40 hours) exempt-level Staff Accountant to support Grand Rapids Catholic Secondary Schools.

The Staff Accountant will:

  • Provide oversight to the tuition receivables and collections processes
  • Prepare and record assets, liability, revenue and expense entries by compiling and analyzing account information
  • Maintain and balance subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling and resolving discrepancies
  • Serve as an expert resource for other accounting staff, including a bookkeeper and financial aid specialist
  • Prepare monthly financial statements for review and analysis, assist with audit and budget preparation, and identify opportunities for business efficiencies

The ideal candidate will have a B.S. in accounting or equivalent experience. Advanced Excel knowledge is required. Experience with computerized ledger systems with Quickbooks preferred. The individual must be very organized and detail-oriented with strong project management, analytical and interpersonal skills. This role is expected to work well independently and as part of a team.
