Food Services Assistants

West Catholic High School is looking for a fill-in/per diem Food Services Assistant to assist in the food service program at various schools (All Saints Academy, Holy Trinity and St. Anthony).

Ideal candidates for this position would possess:

  • General knowledge and understanding of nutrition
  • Ability to interact positively with students, staff and other personnel
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to respond and adapt when necessary
  • Dependable with experience working in facilities utilizing quality food production methods

Essential tasks performed:

  • Prepares food items according to standardized recipes and directions
  • Properly stores food by adhering to food safety policies and procedures
  • Learn point of sale program; maintaining student lunch accounts
  • Maintains excellent customer service and positive attitude toward guests, students and co-workers
  • Food preparation according to written and oral instructions
  • Replenish food and maintain clean serving areas
  • Monitor food and equipment temperatures
  • Exhibit courtesy and understanding to staff and students
  • Perform dishwashing duties of cooking, serving and eating utensils/tools
  • Set up and break down of serving areas
  • Receive, stock and rotate incoming and outgoing inventory
  • Demonstrate knowledge of sanitation practices
  • Exhibit the professional behavior of a reliable employee
  • Maintain a neat, clean and safe work environment
  • General knowledge of materials and methods used in preparing food for the school
  • Ability to work with others in a close fast-paced environment and the ability to address customers in a pleasant, courteous manner

Physical requirements include:

  • Walking, moving, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, handling, pushing and pulling
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to be exposed to chemicals

Custodians

West Catholic High School is looking to fill part-time and full-time custodial positions for the 2022-2023 school year.

  • Responsible for providing a clean and healthy environment for staff and students
  • Duties include classroom and restroom cleaning, event setup and teardown, trash removal and other custodial duties as assigned
  • Previous custodial/janitorial experience preferred
  • Experience stripping and waxing hard floors and carpet extraction preferred
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and meet the physical requirements of the job duties

Staff Accountant - GRCSS

There is an opening for a full-time (40 hours) exempt-level Staff Accountant to support Grand Rapids Catholic Secondary Schools.

The Staff Accountant will:

  • Provide oversight to the tuition receivables and collections processes
  • Prepare and record assets, liability, revenue and expense entries by compiling and analyzing account information
  • Maintain and balance subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling and resolving discrepancies
  • Serve as an expert resource for other accounting staff, including a bookkeeper and financial aid specialist
  • Prepare monthly financial statements for review and analysis, assist with audit and budget preparation, and identify opportunities for business efficiencies

The ideal candidate will have a B.S. in accounting or equivalent experience. Advanced Excel knowledge is required. Experience with computerized ledger systems with Quickbooks preferred. The individual must be very organized and detail-oriented with strong project management, analytical and interpersonal skills. This role is expected to work well independently and as part of a team.
