Art teacher Lisa Nawrocki’s 2021 ArtPrize entry will be dedicated on Feb. 23 in the newly renovated Faith Hospice at Trillium Woods. The piece is called “A Journey Through Grief.” She shared that through a collection of five pieces, “this artwork represents my journey since 2017 when my mother passed away unexpectedly. It represents the physical, cognitive, behavioral, spiritual and philosophical dimensions of loss and despair, as well as the hopeful journey back.”
The individual pieces are subtitled:
- Despair
- Falling into the Shadows
- Layers of Hopelessness
- Amid the Color of Darkness
- Emergence
A 1982 graduate of WC, Lisa has been teaching art at West Catholic for 34 years. She has participated in each one of the 12 ArtPrize events hosted in Grand Rapids. She says that her favorite mediums are drawing and painting in acrylics, oils or watercolor.
