Staff Spotlight: Molly Bergman

by | Feb 21, 2024 | Parents, Staff, Students

Our remarkable West Catholic teachers are skilled at wearing many hats, but few people wear quite as many as our “Jill of all trades” co-teacher Mrs. Molly Bergman. Having worked at West for three years, she is no stranger in the halls, yet one may wonder what exactly a workday looks like for her. In a word, her position is nothing short of a blessing to staff and students alike. “My job as a co-teacher is very different from what most people think,” Molly explains. “I work alongside other teachers to assist with the entire class. I’m not necessarily there to only help with exceptional learners. Sometimes I am creating projects for everyone that align with the current lessons, sometimes I will pull out a group of students that may be behind due to absences and need to get caught up.”

Having a wide background in education, Mrs. Bergman loves the liveliness of moving from class to class and getting to know the whole student population. She has taught in public, charter, Catholic and online schools in a wide range of subjects, but she says of West: “I love teaching at West Catholic! This really feels like the place I was meant to be.” Her position of co-teacher was born of the need to better support diverse learning needs and assist teachers, and it’s hard to imagine a time when we didn’t have Mrs. Bergman helping to make that happen. “I love taking a lesson and making it into a project or differentiating it for students. My brain is always thinking about ways to change up assignments for the students who need it or fun connections we can make to what we are doing in class.” Soon to be added to her impressive resume is a Special Education certification with just one more class until completion.

A treasured joy that Mrs. Bergman appreciates at West is the chance to see her kids at school. With three Falcon high schoolers of her own as well as a fourth grader, she enjoys staying busy with family life and can often be found cooking up delicious food for her family. In fact, she recently whipped up a mere 600 paczki to help her kids fund their school trip to Italy! Her creativity and zeal for teaching don’t stop at West; Mrs. Bergman also teaches painting classes a few evenings a week. “When I’m not working, I like to hang out with my kids, spend time in my garden and play with my dogs,” she says. Her multitude of interests coupled with her passion for learning not only makes her a stellar educator—it also landed her as a contestant on the game show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. Something else you may not know about Mrs. Bergman is that she only has one kidney; she donated the other last year!

Mrs. Bergman embodies the hard work and dedication found in our teaching staff. She is an invaluable resource to our Falcon community, and we are grateful she’s here!
