ONLINE HEALTH
The story of health or our general physical, mental and social well-being is about making wise choices throughout life. In order to make healthy decisions, students will learn about nutrition, disease prevention, mental health, first aid and substance abuse. Early due date for students seeking extra credit: July 14.
Summer health is held every summer. This course is capped at 40 and priority will be given to current West Catholic students needing to meet their Health requirement. Register at grwestcatholicprograms.org/online-health.cfm. Deadline is May 26, 2023.
Rabbit Island School 2023 Call for Applications. Full scholarship program opportunities for high school students to participate in a one-week Arts + Ecology expedition to a remote island in Lake Superior.
MAY 23, 2023, CALUMET, MI — Rabbit Island School is a full-scholarship program where a group of up to 7 students join a team of 3 mentors on Rabbit Island—a 91-acre protected wilderness located 4 miles off the east coast of the Keweenaw Peninsula. The week-long expedition emphasizes student-led projects with mentors offering support and expertise that spans art, ecology, writing, wilderness crafts, and more. Together the group practices active leadership and listenership, creating an island community that is fully immersed in a unique natural environment surrounded by Lake Superior. Past participants have spent their time reading, writing, painting, sketching, carving spoons, creating natural dyes from plants, cooking, fishing, hiking, identifying local flora and fauna, and more.
Dates of program: Wednesday, August 16 – Wednesday, August 23

Rabbit Island School program student applicants should have an interest in one or more of the following areas: arts, ecology, natural sciences. Applicants must be entering Sophomore, Junior, or Senior year of high school—or equivalent—in Fall of 2023. Applicants are required to submit a letter of interest sharing why they would like to be part of Rabbit Island School 2023. Applicants also need to submit a letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, employer, coach, or similar.
The arts non-profit Rabbit Island Foundation offers the program free-of-charge with the support of grants from the National Foundation for the Arts, endowments, and donations from individuals. To ensure a creative, productive, and safe environment for all participants, the Rabbit Island School program is overseen by an experienced team of professional educators and artists. The safety and well-being of Rabbit Island School students is our first priority. The Rabbit Island School 2023 Mentors are Christina Mrozik, Ruby Miller, and Andrew Ranville, with administrative assistance from Firefly Forest School Executive Director, Bailey Lininger.

Colorado School of Mines – The Summer Multicultural Engineering Training (SUMMET) program is an engineering, science and technology program designed for rising juniors and seniors who are from underrepresented populations, including ethnic/racial minorities, women and prospective first-generation college students as well as students with demonstrated financial need. This program is available at no cost to participants with the exception of a $50 confirmation fee for students accepted into the program.
