GR Police Department Youth Police Academy

Each year the Grand Rapids Police Department puts on a Youth Police Academy for current sophomores, juniors and seniors in high school. The academy is a free one-week program that takes place from July12-16, 2021. Participants have a hands-on approach to basic police training that includes several areas and units from the department. Girls Basketball

Congratulations to the girls basketball team who beat Hamilton last Friday to win back-to-back district championships! The girls play tonight in the regional semifinals against Grand Rapids Christian in Fremont. We would also like to give a shout out to our JV girls who have dedicated more time to the basketball program and continue to practice with the varsity team for the postseason!


Big news for Thomas Zielinski and Cole Karasinski! They both placed third in their weight class at the wrestling regional tournament on Saturday and will be advancing to the state tournament this coming Friday! Let's go, Falcons!

Christian Galloway GoFundMe

Christian Galloway, a West Catholic alumnus, was recently diagnosed with a rare form of T-Cell Lymphoma cancer. Christian is now undergoing 18 weeks of chemotherapy to fight this cancer. As a community, we hope to support him and his family during this difficult time. Please join us in praying for Christian. This week, we will be following a regular schedule (i.e. Monday is a Monday schedule, Tuesday is a Tuesday schedule, Wednesday is a Wednesday schedule, Thursday is a Thursday schedule). This is a change from what was previously communicated. Please be aware that we will not have school on Good Friday - Friday, April 2.

The following week is Spring Break. We look forward to seeing students again on Monday, April 12.

Campus Ministry Update - 03.22.21

STEUBENVILLE YOUTH CONFERENCE: Sign-ups are underway! We will be going June 25-27 and the trip is for all incoming freshmen to graduating seniors. The cost will be $230.  Spots are limited! REVERENCE FOR GOD'S NAME AWARENESS WEEK: RGNA week starts today. Please join us in growing in greater respect for God’s name by using it with reverence.

PEER ADVOCATE APPLICATIONS ARE NOW BEING ACCEPTED: Peer Ministry has partnered with the House System to form Peer Advocates (PAs). PAs will receive the same great training as the Peer Ministers received and will still lead retreats, but will now have an expanded reach of helping to lead their houses.  The deadline for applications is March 26 for interested juniors.

The Joy of Coding U of M Summer Course

Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Michigan is excited to be offering a virtual course that high school students can participate in this summer, The Joy of Coding, which takes play July 5-August 13, 2021.

The Joy of Coding is an online course specially created for anyone who wants to experience first-hand the power and thrill of coding computers to do amazing things. Created with high school students in mind, it is a great way for anyone to step into the wondrous world of coding. You'll learn by doing and experience how coding powers apps such as Snapchat and TikTok.

No prior coding experience is required! Anyone who wants to learn is welcome!

Students will:

  • Learn to code at their own pace with support from Michigan ECE faculty and students
  • Have weekly coding lectures/assignments using an interactive textbook
  • Have our commitment to helping you get unstuck when learning to code
  • Receive a certificate of accomplishment to include in college applications

Girls Soccer

For any ladies out there looking for a super fun, low pressure, no-cut sport, come play soccer this spring! We will have a varsity and JV team and no experience is needed. The first day of practice will be Monday, March 22 at 3:30 p.m. on the lower practice field. Please plan to attend if you are interested in playing.
