Deadline to Submit Senior Pictures for the Yearbook is November 4

Attention Seniors,

The deadline for turning in senior pictures and kindergarten pictures is fast approaching. Everything must be turned in by Monday, November 4, 2019.

No late pictures will be accepted. If you do not turn in a senior picture, the picture from your school ID will be your yearbook picture. Don’t let that happen to you!

Requirements for senior picture:

  • Size: 2” x 3” COLOR photo (NO Black & White, Sepia, etc.) Digital file at 300 dpi is preferred
  • Pose: Head-and-shoulder shot looking at the camera. No full body shots.
  • Background: Traditional, neutral (blue, gray, brown), & solid background only
  • Clothing: Both: Solid colored top (no strips, patterns, etc.) Girls: Modest tops with sleeves. No tank tops. Boys: Sweater and tie or sports coat and tie.
  • Other: Absolutely no hands to face in pose, no fade or reflection effects, no extreme close-ups, no "nature" shots.

Please send all senior pictures and kindergarten pictures, as well as any questions, to Ms. Critchett at Digital pictures are preferred, but hard copies can be brought to room 301.

Spirit Store Opens Friday

The grand opening of the Spirit Store with new attire will be held Friday night at the football game vs. Grand Rapids Christian! The Spirit Store will be open from 5:30 p.m. to the end of the 3rd quarter just behind the concessions stand. Come grab some new WC gear and don’t forget to purchase your coffee mug for free hot chocolate and coffee for the entire year!

Softball Meeting

There will be an important meeting on Wed., Sept. 18 at 6 pm in the Team Room for girls interested in fall softball, and upcoming conditioning opportunities for the spring season. Parents are strongly encouraged to attend.

All A's Walk Volunteers Needed

The All A’s Walk will be taking place on Thursday, October 3 and we are in need of volunteers to help with hospitality at John Ball Zoo, as well as, volunteers to walk with the homerooms from West Catholic to John Ball Zoo. The walk will go from 8 am – 11 am (times are approximate). If you are able to help that morning please let me know, or if you cannot help but know of another parent who is available please send my information on to them. Substitute Teachers Needed

West Catholic is looking to expand its substitute teacher list! If you have teaching experience, please consider applying to be added to our sub roster. The following are characteristics of an ideal candidate:

  • Teaching experience
  • Ability to provide backup teaching services when full-time teachers are unable to work
  • Ability to execute lesson plans left by the absent teacher
  • Ability to create and maintain a respectful and fair classroom culture that fosters a safe and productive learning
  • Virtus training is a plus!

About West Catholic High School: West Catholic High School is a Grand Rapids Diocesan school located in Grand Rapids. Its campus sits on 42 acres. Established in 1962, it is a co-educational college preparatory institution providing a dynamic Catholic culture for excellent academic instruction, faith formation, and many and varied extracurricular activities. Greenwood Cemetery Fall Cleanup

Consider helping with Greenwood Cemetery's fall cleanup on October 26 from 9:30 a.m. to noon. WC Hockey Scrap Metal Drive

The West Catholic Varsity Hockey team, in conjunction with our co-op with Grand Rapids Christian, is sponsoring a scrap metal drive to raise money for new equipment. To make it easy to donate, we will be holding it on two back-to-back Fridays and Saturdays – Sept.13-14 and Sept. 20-21. There will be a drop off container and players there to assist you from 3-7 p.m. on the two Fridays and from 8 a.m-5 p.m. in the parking lot of the Eagle Ice Center, located at 2600 Village Dr SE.

The team will thankfully accept anything with metal on it, in it or around it. Appliances, golf clubs, bicycles, grills, fans, cell phones, laptops, computer towers, car parts, car batteries, marine batteries, stainless steel, metal ladders, metal tools, air conditioners, gutters, coat hangers, vacuum cleaners, etc. If you have items too large to haul yourself, please contact one of the event leaders:  Dennis Santo at 616-293-2391 or, or Brian Noordewier at 616-401-2487 or to schedule a time for the team to pick-up your item. You may also bring your scrap metal to any of the PADNOS locations to drop off. Our account is GRA3360. Please ask them to defer billing to GRC Hockey Boosters.

PLEASE NOTE: The item(s) for pick-up need to be placed OUTSIDE of your home-either in the garage or the yard. We apologize, but we CANNOT accept TVs, computer monitors, or anything with fuel or chemicals still left in it.
