MSBOA Solo & Ensemble Honors

News Type:  Daily Student Parent Staff Alumni Date:  Monday, April 19, 2021

This year's MSBOA Solo & Ensemble competition may have looked a little different—performances were recorded and submitted virtually—but our students were still able to put together some amazing performances. Congratulations to our flute trio (Andrea Bolt, Bridget Donovan & Hailey Siwek) and trombone duet (Brady Patterson & Jacob North) for earning MSBOA medals at the state level!

Special congratulations to Juliana Bolinger for her top rating of 1 (alto sax solo) and for being selected as an Outstanding Soloist with her nearly perfect score in the Proficiency 1 scoring rubric. This is an honor that typically only 100 members in the entire state get to enjoy. In fact, only 18 students in West Michigan were selected. Juliana joins a prestigious list of recent WC students to receive this rare and coveted honor: Maggie Camp (alto sax), Matt DiCosola (alto sax), Bridget Eshlemen (flute/piano), Madeline Mitchell (trombone) and Alec Ockaskis (percussion).

It will be a long road to recovery but we are confident God is listening! If you feel moved to show your support financially, visit the Roth Family Emergency Support GoFundMe page.

As many of you may have heard, we recently received a $3 million bequest from an anonymous donor. This individual wished to make a lasting impact on the West Catholic community by funding a number of projects, most notably developing our baseball and softball complex and constructing tennis courts on our campus. We are incredibly thankful to have such generous donors like this individual supporting our school and we look forward to breaking ground on these exciting projects soon.
