On Tuesday, October 11, the West Catholic Marching Band received a Division 1 / Superior rating at the MSBOA Marching Band Festival!

On the way to the competition, the band learned that they would be performing indoors because of the weather. Performing inside led to a new set of challenges for the band; however, the students and parent volunteers handled the situation beautifully and adapted to the change. One thing that Band Director Darren LaPrise said helped was the band’s experience performing on their annual school tour as well as their recent performances in arcs at homecoming and during Pulaski Days at St. Laddy’s Hall. Mr. LaPrise also shared that he was proud of the way everyone handled themselves and the musicianship that was displayed by his students in the way they listened to each other on stage.

FUN FACT: The West Catholic Marching Flacons have earned medals in every MSBOA Marching Competition since 1999, with many of those bands receiving the top rating of Division 1!
