Dean of Students Announcement for the 2021-2022 School Year

Date:  August 16, 2021

Dear West Catholic Community,

It is with mixed emotions that I announce Joe Gietzen, our dean of students, will be stepping down from his position and leaving West Catholic after our Back-to-School BBQ on Friday, August 20. We greatly appreciate the dedication, hard work and leadership he has demonstrated throughout his time at West Catholic, and we will miss him! We are very proud of him as well. Joe will be taking on the role of middle school principal at All Saints Academy. He is replacing Abby Giroux, who recently left for a position at the University of Notre Dame. A letter from Joe sharing his thoughts as he prepares to join the ASA community can be found HERE.

Given the start of the school year is next week, we have decided to replace Joe with an interim dean of students. Sean Nolan, currently a teacher at West Catholic and the director of our House System, has graciously accepted this role. Sean is a graduate of Central Michigan University, Ave Maria University and the Catholic University of America and is working on his Master of Science in Educational Leadership at Creighton University. In addition to his responsibilities as interim dean of students, Sean will continue to teach Latin courses and lead the House System. We are currently securing a replacement for his theology classes.

After speaking with Sean, I know he is excited to start the school year serving in this new capacity. Congratulations to both Joe and Sean as they begin the next chapter in their careers!

In Christ,

Cynthia Kneibel | President/CEO
