Enter My Dream to Fly Art Contest

Calling all young aviators who have a passion for airplanes, hot air balloons and gliders, or who simply like to fly as a passenger. Have you ever sat in class, looked out the window, and wondered what it would be like to fly? If so, you are not alone! Teachers might not always like it, but something about looking at the sky calls us to daydream about what is possible. The Michigan Department of Transportation, Office of Aeronautics, would like to invite all aspiring artists from the ages of 6 to 17 to compete in the International Aviation Art Contest, sponsored by the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI).

Entries are judged in three classes according to age and, at least in part, for their creative use of the theme My Dream to Fly by drawing, painting, or coloring a picture that combines art and aviation. Winners will receive recognition from their state, and the top three entries in each age group will be forwarded to Washington, D.C. to be judged in the national competition.

This opportunity is available to any child within the given age group and we ask that you forward this message to the appropriate parties so that we can reach as many contestants as possible.

Each entry must have an entry form attached which you will find on the website.

Please see the attached flyer for more details on the contest, contact information for any questions you may have, or for submittal of entries to the Office of Aeronautics. For further questions and to print off your Authenticity Certificate form, go to the NASAO website at

You may also contact me, our Office of Aeronautics representative:
