The 2008-2009 student directories are now available for $5.00 in the main office. This valuable directory contains all the phone numbers and e-mail addresses of our teachers and names, addresses and phone numbers of all the students. It is a "must have" for every family! The proceeds benefit the band program.

All 9^th & 10^th grade students interested in military academies should attend the Academy Night Open House on Monday the 24^th from 7-9 pm at the Gerald Ford Auditorium.  Congressmen Vern Ehlers and Pete Hoekstra will be in attendance to answer any questions after the presentation.

There will be an important informational meeting for any girl, 9^th through 12^th grade, interested in forming a Dance Team at West Catholic, on Tuesday, Nov. 25, during first lunch.  The meeting will take place in the Team Room.  If you cannot make the meeting, please sign-up in the Athletic Office. 

The West Catholic Library will be closed Friday, Monday, and Tuesday.

The Ronald McDonald House Charities is offering scholarships to seniors.  You may access the application at www.rmhc.org or pick up an application in the counseling office.  The deadline is February 16, 2009.

Volunteers are needed to collect money at the door for the Arts and Crafts Fair on Saturday, Dec. 6.  Four volunteers from 8:50 AM-12:00, and then four volunteers from 12:00-3:00.  If you are able to volunteer please contact Mary Jo Deering @ 791-6483.  Be a part of history, as this will be the LAST West Catholic Craft Show!!  Also, please sign up in the Athletic office to help the crafters carry in their boxes and then to help take them down at the end. The crafters depend on the students to help them out and it is a very bad reflection on our community when we do not have students there to help out. All of the athletic programs benefit from this craft fair, please be generous with your time!

The Lake Michigan Credit Union is sponsoring the Lloyd Hutt Scholarship Essay Contest.  Seniors who are dependents of LMCU members or members themselves may enter this competition.  Eight $2000.00 awards will be given.  The essay is should be a 750 to 1000 word essay answering the question, “Can Money Buy Happiness?”  The deadline is January 31, 2009 and brochures are available in the counseling office.

The Michigan Oil and Gas Producers Education Foundation is offering 5 $500 scholarships to students demonstrating financial need.  Applications are on-line at  www.mogpef.org   The deadline is 4/1/09.

Seniors who have an account with the Kent County Credit Union can qualify for $1000 scholarships if they have a 2.5 and can complete a 400 to 600 word essay.  The deadline is February 6, 2009.  Applications are available in the counseling office or on-line at www.kentcountycu.org

Early Bird orders for the 2009 Yearbook will be over on November 25 and the price will increase from $62 to $65. Get your order in today and save some $$$$. Order forms are in the main office.

Senior scholar-athletes can apply for a scholarship through the MHSAA if they have a 3.5 and one varsity letter.  They may apply at www.mhsaa.com The deadline for applying is December 5.
