Twelfth Night is one of Shakespeare’s greatest romantic comedies. Set in the season of Christmas and the Epiphany, the story opens with young Viola washing ashore in a strange land, dressing like a man, and taking the man's name of Cesario. She enters the service of the local duke, Orsino. Viola falls in love with Orsino, but Orsino longs for the love of a local countess, Olivia. To add to the farce, Viola's twin brother who looks strikingly like her, Sebastian, arrives on the scene.

Also living in the household is her uncle, Sir Toby Belch, a drunkard. Toby decides to put the conceited steward of Olivia’s household, Malvolio, in his place with a trick. In the end, Sebastian and Olivia fall in love and marry. Orsino realizes that it is Viola that he loves and he agrees to marry her.  Sir Toby Belch and Maria, another of Olivia’s household staff, decide to marry! Everyone, except Malvolio, ends up happy in this masterpiece on the madness of love.
