West Catholic takes first and second place in Math Challenge
For the second year in a row, West Catholic teams took first and second place in the Phi Division at the Math Challenge Competition at Grand Rapids Community College on March 19.

 West Catholic's first and second place teams with their coaches.
Out of 15 teams in three divisions, West Catholic placed second overall, less than three points behind the top school.
The Math Challenge consists of teams of six students from the 9th and 10th grades who compete in four different events, involving both team and individual problem-solving skills. Two teams from West Catholic took part.
Top individual scorers for West Catholic were sophomores Jack Brooks and Brendan Kosnik. Members of the first-place team were Brooks, Kosnik, Jackie Wilson, Meg Normand, Ryan Linak, and Joe O’Brien. Members of the second place team were Clare Coddington, Claire Goodfellow, Grant Goodfellow, Ellen Hackett, Ellie Ryan, and Andy Woodruff.
The teams were coached by math teachers Miss Sandy Golembiewski and Mr. Pat Nugent, assisted by junior students Jennie Connell and Jacob Dean.
