Clear, consistent communication is key to the successful education of all our students at Grand Rapids Catholic Secondary Schools (CSS). A high standard for communications excellence is necessary in order to effectively reach our target audiences, maintain a professional image internally and externally and to ensure the best possible work on behalf of our students.
This style guide is intended to provide guidelines for meeting that standard in both internal and external communications. Its use will help all of us create consistent communications, connect with our audiences effectively and present CSS and its work in a uniformly professional manner.
The CSS Style Guide is not a replacement for the style guides used in the schools. It is an addendum that addresses style questions specific to CSS, including organizational names, plus a few style issues that occur frequently in every day writing. School-prescribed style guides should be used as a guide for grammar, document presentation and other style matters. For academic papers, journal articles or field-specific applications (such as math formulas), the appropriate source – not the CSS Style Guide – should be consulted.
For questions regarding style, please contact Communications Director Kathleen VanderVelde in the central office, (kathleenvandervelde@grcss.org, 243-7724). |
